Purton has plenty of representation at the National Championships being held in Leamington Spa between the 12th to 30th August.

In the Ladies 2 Wood, Deanne Davis and Christine Mitchell qualified for Wiltshire. Christine lost in the Last 64 round to the eventual winner Emily Kernick of the home club Royal Leamington Spa whilst Deanne went out at the Last 32 losing to Maddie Burgess of Leciestershire.

Next up was the Ladies Senior Fours in which Deanne and Christine were joined by Alison Fail and Lynn Thatcher. After a convincing win in the Last 32 to a quartet from Leciestershire the Ladies lost in the Last 16 to a Four from Wigton in Cumbria.

In the Junior Pairs, Louise Rose from Purton was partnered with Amelia Yeoman from Box and lost narrowly 19-17 to the Read sisters of Hampshire.

Louise then played in the Junior Singles winning convincingly 21-10 against an opponent from Lincolnshire in the L32 before succumbing 21-17 in a very close game to a player from Wigton B.C representing Cumbria.

It was a busy few days for Louise as she was also part of the Wessex Borders Bowlers team who representated Berkshire and Wiltshire in the Junior Ladies Team competition the Amy Rose Bowl.

Having done brilliantly to make the last 8, the girls lost out to the 'Angels of the North' team representating Cumbria, Yorkshire and Northumberland by just a single shot!

There is more representation from Purton in upcoming competitions, this article will be updated as news comes in.
