Bowls Club News - MAY 2018
For those of you that would like to start playing Lawn Bowls then why not come along to one of our coaching sessions? They are about to start and the first one will be on the 27th April (might be a bit late for this magazine) and will continue every Friday evening from 6.30pm. Young or old are welcome, we have all the equipment you will need to play, all you have to do is wear flat shoes. Just turn up, you will be welcome.
Weather permitting (although we are quite a hard bunch and play in most weathers) our league matches and friendlies will have started, next month we start the club events, playing each other for the honour of winning and getting our names on the honours board.
We all hope that we will get a good summer, I think we deserve one after the winter we have had. Let’s think positively and perhaps it’ll happen.
On a sad note I have to report another of our members has died, namely Brian Tallboys, he was a lovely character, always cheerful even though he suffered poor health for a considerable time. He loved his bowls and played regularly in the league matches, always keen to do well. He would come up to the green when work was being done, not to work himself, but to supply the green keepers with home made bread pudding. For that, and other reasons, he will be sadly missed. His funeral was on 29th March, and a guard of honour was welcomed by his family. Our condolences to them on this sad occasion.
